Can I check-in online?

Yes, You can check in online 24 hours before departure. Check-in is open for all domestic flights.

Easy and convenient

Online check-in is easy. First enter your flight confirmation number or your BRA card number. Select your route and the passenger you want to check in, then confirm the check-in. Your boarding card will be automatically stored on your electronic membership card. If you would rather have a physical boarding card, you may print one by entering your e-mail address on the last page. The boarding card will be sent automatically to the e-mail address provided. At the airport, you can go directly to the gate, which is open until 10 minutes before departure.

Can I check-in online even if I have baggage?

Yes, you can check in on our website even if you have baggage to check. Check in as usual via our website. When you get to the airport, leave your baggage at the baggage drop-off desk. 

General baggage conditions

Which rules apply when I bring baggage?

There is a lot to consider about baggage. The baggage must be weighed so the plane is not flying with excess weight. Security must be contained on the highest level.Here you will find information regarding cabin baggage and checked-in baggage.

You are permitted to take hand baggage onboard. Hand baggage must be stowed under the seat in front of you or in the secure overhead locker. Therefore the maximum dimension is 50x40x25 cm and the weight must not exceed 8 kg.

Baggage fitted with an alarm may be carried as long as the alarm is deactivated during the entire flight.

The rules for hand baggage are applied, principally, for reasons of safety, but are also designed for the comfort and well-being of you and your fellow passengers.

Carried free of charge in the cabin
The following travel items may be carried free of charge in the cabin, in addition to checked-in and hand baggage:

  • Laptop computer
  • Lady’s handbag or similar
  • Large coat Umbrella or walking stick
  • Small camera and/or binoculars
  • A reasonable quantity of reading material
  • Baby food to be consumed during the flight
  • Aids required by disabled passengers

Medicine, which is required in case of emergency during the flight
The free baggage allowance applies to adults and children over two years of age. Children under two years of age, travelling free of charge or for 10 percent of the applicable price, are not entitled to a free baggage allowance or hand baggage.

Ensure that you always pack your own baggage and keep it under observation until it is checked-in.

The free baggage allowance is the same when travelling on a domestic flight connecting with an international flight as applies for the international flight, whatever the price that applies for the domestic flight.

The free baggage allowance applies to adults and children over two years of age. Children under two years of age, travelling free of charge or for 10 percent of the applicable price, are not entitled to a free baggage allowance or hand baggage.

The following baggage allowance is included in the ticket price:

BRA Customer Programme Gold and Merit card holders are entitled to 20 kg of extra baggage without payment of an excess baggage fee.

Please don’t forget to label your baggage!
The bags should be marked both on the outside and the inside. BRA has an effective system for tracking of baggage, but inadequate labelling can cause problems. Your assistance with this is appreciated  labelling is for the benefit of both parties. Please note that the rules for free baggage allowance are not the same for charter flights. Packaging Checked-in baggage must be securely packed so that it does not break during transport. Baggage must be able to withstand normal handling during transportation at the airport, air transport, as well as in connection with loading and unloading of the aeroplane.

We can refuse to transport if:

  1. Baggage is not adequately packed. 
  2. Baggage is suspected to contain goods that may be dangerous to transport and you do not approve of your baggage being searched.

We take no responsibility for baggage that is transported in the hold that contains:
medicine, bottles containing alcohol, money, keys, jewels, securities, precious metals, passports, commercial samples, business documents, breakable items.

Excess baggage

What rules apply to excess baggage?

Special rules apply for excess baggage when travelling to Brussels. Please contact our Call Centre on +46771440010 for more information.

The baggag allowance is 20 kg including hand baggage (for example 15 kg + 5 kg of hand baggage). The cost for excess baggage over and above the allowance is 50 SEK per kilo.

The cost for excess baggage is 50 SEK, including 12 percent VAT, for each whole or part kilo over and above the baggage allowance for domestic travel.

The cost for excess baggage is 1% of the standard single fare per kilo over and above the baggage allowance. For further information contact Malmö Aviation or your travel agency.

 

Which are the fees for excess baggage?

If you need to take more baggage that exceeds the ticket allowance, an additional fee will be applied.

For scheduled flights (for example domestic or to Brussels) then baggage over 20 kg – exclusive of hand baggage – counts as excess baggage. Any excess baggage incurs a fee.

The maximum weight of any item must not exceed 32kg.

For passengers with a Company Ticket or with an Annual Season Ticket Card then the free baggage allowance is 50 kg.

In the event of excess baggage you will be directed to our ticket counter to pay any excess baggage fees.

Excess baggage ticket
In the event of excess baggage an excess baggage ticket must be issued, which you present to check-in personnel, before the baggage can be accepted. If you are continuing your journey then the transfer desk personnel must also be shown the excess baggage ticket. If the excess baggage ticket does not cover the entire journey then a new excess baggage ticket must be issued.

Fragile baggage

Can I bring fragile baggage?

If you wish to carry fragile bagage with you, in addition to your standard baggage, then an extra seat can be booked for these items.

The baggage should be packed so that a seatbelt can be fastened around, for example, a secure handle. Examples of fragile baggage are computers, expensive measuring equipment or musical instruments.

The fee for an extra seat is 50% of the applicable price per blocked seat.

When you travel at a discounted price, for example on a senior citizen or student ticket, then the full applicable price applies.

The following rules apply for this type of baggage:

  • Maximum 50 kg per item
  • Maximum 75 kg per airplane seat
  • Baggage must be secured in the seat
  • Baggage must be stowed under the seat in front

Please note! You must reserve space for your baggage. When the seat for your baggage has been confirmed then you can place your baggage on the passenger seat.

BRA takes take no responsibility for checked-in baggage that contains medicine, bottles containing alcohol, money, keys, jewels, securities, precious metals, passports, commercial samples, business documents or breakable items.

Bicycles and baby carriages

What rules apply when bringing bicycles and/or a baby carriage?

Baby carriages may be transported as baggage, but wheels must be removed during transport and the carriage must be packed in a baby carriage bag, in order to minimise the risk of damage.

Packaging
In order to transport a bicycle it must be packaged. Pedals must be removed, tires must be deflated and the handlebars must be turned parallel to the frame.

Weight
The bicycle weight must not exceed  free weight allowance.

For special baggage (bicycles, golf bags, windsurfing boards, diving and skiing equipment) on charter trips please contact the travel agency where the charter trip was purchased.

 

Dangerous goods

What to consider when brining dangerous goods?

Examples of dangerous goods permitted in checked baggage and carry-on baggage. A few examples of items to which restrictions may apply on aircraft follow.

Note: The list is not complete. Airport security personnel have the right to prohibit items that they judge to be a risk to flight security.

Permitted in carry-on baggage in secure (tamper evident) packaging. Maximum 5 litres/passenger. Alcohol above 70% alcohol by volume (140 proof) is prohibited.

However, Swedish Civil Aviation Authority regulations apply to the carrying of liquids in carry-on baggage. This rule applies only if the alcohol was purchased in the airport after passing through security. For more information, see the Civil Aviation Authority Website.

Permitted in checked and carry-on baggage. May not be used onboard. Butane refillers are not permitted.

The butane cartridge must be removed from the curling iron.

Cartridges that contain another non-toxic and/or non-flammable gas.
Permitted only for use with life vests and prostheses.

The main rule is that you may bring as much baby food and special diet food as you need during the flight. However, you may bring enough baby food and special diet food for the entire time you will be away if you are unsure about whether you can buy the products at your destination and/or it is available only in large packages.

Maximum 2.5 kg/passenger, only if used to chill perishable goods not classified as dangerous or contagious. You must have permission from the airline.

Sprays, perfumes and colognes are covered by the new regulations restricting liquids in carry-on baggage. However, in the airport and after passing through security, you may buy larger quantities of liquids containing alcohol up to 2 litres or 2 kg, but the maximum for each individual package is 0.5 litre or 0.5 kg.

Blade length maximum: 5 cm.

Permitted only carried in your pockets for personal use. Maximum 1 butane lighter/passenger. Butane refillers are prohibited. “Zippo” type fluid lighters are prohibited. Only safety matches are permitted

Applies to liquid medicines. Pills, powders, etc., are not covered by the new regulations. You are allowed to take medicine necessary for use during the flight in your carry-on baggage.

Four (4) pressurised canisters in gaseous form may be carried in the cabin. Canisters shall have a max gross weight of 5kg per container. A notification shall be sent to the company 72 hrs before departure. Medically-signed certificate must be carried and shown to flight personnel at embarkation.

  • Nedron Vagabond
  • Aiolos Soloist
  • Impulse

Electronic equipment

Can I bring electronic equipment?

The following equipment is illegal to use during take-off and landing, while the ”Fasten seat belts” sign is lit:

  • Laptop computers
  • Sound and video recording equipment
  • Electronic toys
  • Calculators
  • Pagers/beepers
  • Electric shavers
  • Other personal electrical equipment such as hair dryers, tooth brushes, etc.

The following equipment is prohibited for use onboard:

  • Mobile telephones/Walkie-talkies
  • CD-players
  • Radio transmitters
  • Remote-controlled equipment
  • External equipment for laptop computers
  • Radio and TV receivers
  • Other equipment not mentioned, but that contains an active broadcasting unit.

Musical intruments

Can I bring musical instruments?

A Cello can be taken onboard. Space must be reserved. An extra seat must be booked and paid for.

The fee for the extra seat is the same as the cost of the passenger’s ticket.

When you travel at a discounted price, for example on a senior citizen or student ticket, then the full applicable price applies.

The follow rules apply for this type of baggage:

  • Maximum of 50 kg per item
  • Baggage must be secured in the seat

The baggage must be stowed under the seat in front.

Please note! You must reserve space for your baggage. When the seat for your baggage has been confirmed then you can place your baggage on the passenger seat.

A double bass can only be carried in the case.

 

Sports equipment

What rules apply when I bring sports equipment?

Scuba tanks must be empty and may be carried as baggage at a cost of 200 SEK/leg (including VAT). Maximum allowance is 15kg

Cannot be taken into the cabin. Must be checked-in and should be packed in hard plastic or in other protective material.

Golfbag are counted as standard checked-in baggage. A golf bag is included in the free baggage allowance.

The standard fee is charged for excess baggage.

There is no problem if you wish to take a pair of skis with you. The only requirement is that they must be in a skiing bag. The skis are included in the free baggage allowance.

The standard fee is charged for excess baggage.

Skis should be well-packed and there should be only one pair of skis and poles per ski bag.

200 SEK / € 20 per board/leg

Windsurfing board may be carried as luggage. Maximum length of the windsurfingboard is 4.0 m due to the cargo space dimension. The equipment must be packaged so as to withstand shipping.

 

After your flight

When you have arrived at your destination


Complaints on Damaged Luggage are to be made directly on arrival at the destination. A PIR-Report will be made by the Airline Carrier.

If a damage on the Luggage is discovered at a later time it needs to be brought back to the Airport of arrival, no more than 7 days after Date of arrival. The Luggage needs to be presented with the TAG intact along with the Boarding Card and Ticket Data.

The Luggage TAG must remain intact on the damaged item. No Report will be submitted if the 7 days have been exceeded since the original Arrival Date.

BRA does not compensate for scratches, stains, dirt, dents nor on damages to zippers and pockets on the Luggage.

Damages on carry-on baggage on board the aircraft will be compensated only if BRA has handled it recklessly.

BRA always strive for the Passengers luggage should arrive in time. In the unlikely event of the luggage not arriving in time the Passenger needs to report this directly at arrival where a PIR-report will be written.

As soon as the luggage is rediscovered the Passenger will be contacted to agree on time and place for where the luggage shall be delivered.

Should the Passenger, at the time of the Luggage being rediscovered, be at another place than town of Home the Passenger is required to save all receipts of additional costs for the most necessary items such as hygiene articles, underwear, etc. These items should be bought at reasonable prices, branded products will not be compensated. Any other purchases need to be cleared with Malmö Aviation Customer Services upfront.

Compensation will only be paid out to Passenger if the Luggage arrives on the following day.

Note : if the Passenger is at town of Home no compensation will be paid out for delayed Luggage.

In case of lost Luggage, BRA recommends the Passenger to contact their Insurance Company since the responsibilities of BRA in these cases are limited.

Fragile and valuable items are not allowed to Check-In in accordance to BRA Terms & Conditions.

If the Passenger in spite of this do Check-In these kinds of items, BRA will not compensate damages or theft of these items.

Examples of such items are :
Business Records, Fragile Items, Electronic Devices/Equipment, Documents of Identity, Medicine, Keys, Passports, Money, Wine and other Spirits, Samples of Goods, Securities, Precious Metals.

If the Passengers Luggage has been astray for more than 30 days the Passenger has the possibility to be compensated. Please contact BRA Customer Relations for more information. It is required from the Passenger to present the Ticket, Luggage Receipt and Luggage Report, all in original copies.


We at BRA always put safety first. When indications of technical faults arise it may cause the flight to be delayed or cancelled.

All delays and cancellations of flights are handled as stated in the EU-Regulations that controls the responsibilities of Airline Carriers.

In cases of delays for more than two hours we offer our Passengers compensation for any additional costs, such as costs for foods and beverages during the waiting period. For any other costs BRA recommends the Passenger to contact their Insurance Company to allow for compensation.

In cases of cancelled flights due to Technical Issues, BRA offers a re-booking to the Passengers final destination and compensation for additional costs during the waiting period. These additional costs could be costs for foods and beverages and overnight stay at a hotel, whenever that becomes necessary. For any other costs BRA recommends the Passenger to contact their Insurance Company to allow for compensation.

If the Passenger chooses to cancel the trip the Passenger is entitled to a re-fund of the unused Flight Ticket. In this case the Passenger needs to contact BRA or the Travel Agency. In cases of extraordinary circumstances that makes the trip impossible to carry through, no compensation will be reimbursed.

If the Passenger is entitled to reimbursement for additional costs due to delays or cancellations BRA requires the Passengers receipts in original copies.

In case of suspected theft from the Luggage after having received it at the Baggage Conveyor, a PIR-Report must be filed.

In that report a description of what is missing is required. Upon filing a Complaint to BRA the PIR-Report should be attached along with original Receipts and the Police Report of the incident.
